Styles of Turban

Although this is a very personal choice to have any kind of turban, but there are some trends in tying turbans. Every Sikh ties turban in a unique way, personally I haven’t seen two people with exactly same turban style. Here are few of the very common trends.

Peaked Turban
These days’ Sikh men wear a peaked turban that serves to cover their long hair. This turban style is the most common style for sikhs across the whole world. It is a turban where length varies from 6 – 8 meters. This length being cut in two equal halves and the sewn together length wise to make it “Double wide”. Some people still wear single turban.

Dhamala
This turban style is commonly used by sikh traditional warriors known as Nihangs. This is the warrior style turban and a round steel/iron circle being worn on top of dhamala to protect any sharp edge sword attack on head. Most of the cases, people use dark blue or khalsa color to wear dhamala.

Keski
Keski is normally used by young kids to cover their hair. It is made up of same turban material but the length is approx 1mx1m. Keski also used by people during sports/outdoor activities where lots of body moments are involved.
